Identification of constitutive traits and phenotyping
Grapevine display different degrees of resistance and susceptibility to pathogens. As a strategy, pyramiding resistance genes from American Vitis species presenting natural resistance to pathogens, particularly to downy mildew, has been used to improve Vitis vinifera resistance by breeding programs.
At GPS Lab we aim at identifying biomarkers linked to phenotypic traits of resistance or susceptibility. We also explore phenotyping techniques such as chlorophyll fluorescence, associated to machine learning and neuronal networks for a quick and accurate identification of inherited traits.
